Dreamwork’s Pictures returns to the Valley of Peace in the third entry with ‘Kung Fu Panda 3‘ that as a franchise has grossed over $1 billion* world-wide. This time around the spirit world conqueror, Kai, has taken the spirit of Chi master Oogway. The Dragon Warrior, Po, is reunited with his father who will teach his son to master the art of Chi to take down Kai and to restore peace to his village.
What’s made this series so successful is how the writers focus so much on character development that invokes hope while also appreciating the art of filmmaking. Visually, ‘Kung Fu Panda 3‘ is beautiful to watch and pays close attention to detail. I viewed the movie in 2D while the movie is also being shown in 3D which from what I’ve heard works really well. The story is compelling and as much as the movie is directed towards the younger audience there’s enough for adults to get in the fun. There were plenty of laughs and scenes that stood out. One that comes to mind is when Po discovers an unknown Panda in the Valley of Peace who happens to be his biological father. Po is so oblivious to what’s just happening that even the onlookers are just staring in confusion.
If you’ve been a fan of the animated series then ‘Kung Fu Panda 3‘ will not disappoint. The overall quality of the films continues to be flawless with lessons everyone can take away young or old. This will surely add on the world-wide success the franchise has accumulated thus far with promise of another entry down the road.
